Nice Week Spent in This Lively Resort

We have just spent 7 days at Marina Di Venezia staying with Eurocamp.
I will list my pros and cons.
Cons (these are purely my opinions and observations)
Mosquitos. These have featured in pretty much every review I have read and they are not really a fault of the site, more a fault of mother nature,... but they had an impact on our stay none the less. I consider myself quite well travelled and have visited places notorious for them (Asia & South America), but never have I experienced them quite like this. We took insect repellent after sun, Osomos advanced mosquito cream, and Mozzipatches. They served little purpose. We all still got bitten.
Bikes, now I'm all for people riding bikes, but at times, it felt like we'd walked into the Tour De France. There were dozens of them children and adults alike riding them like Kamikaze pilots. If I had a euro for every time one of us nearly got hit, the holiday would have paid itself. Suggestion to site, maybe look at offering more segregation between bikes and pedestrians as some paths have no pavement.
The miserable staff around the swimming pool, blowing their whistles every 2 seconds. My 11 year old some came to a grinding halt on a slide and had to bump shuffle the last bit down only to be told by a lifeguard that he was banned from using any of the slides again......I mean really!!!!
The evening entertainment was on very late too. 9:30pm it begins, which seems strange to me, seeing as there are so many little kids there. We often found that we had eaten, had a couple of drinks and an ice cream by 8-8:30pm, which then left an hour to kill. Unfortunately, there was never enough going on in that interim to keep us entertained, and by around 9pm, having gotten fed up with being mosquito fodder, we'd head back.
The last thing would be Eurocamp, the accommodation, even though it was a decent size, it was tired and run down. Leaking Aircon unit, bathroom locks that kept getting stuck and had to be opened from the outside with a screwdriver, overhead units with broken door latches that wouldn’t stay open and beds like mortuary slab
The distance from the accommodation to the main area was quite the trek, too. Initially, it wasn’t much of a bother, but towards the end, the 20-minute round trip began to wear thin, especially in 34-degree heat. You couldn’t just “pop” out to get something from there.
Now, onto the Pro’s
The site as a whole was spotlessly clean and well presented. The staff work tirelessly to maintain the high standards. They are forever cleaning the facilities or tidying up the undergrowth. The communal showers and changing facilities were especially immaculate.
Ignoring the moody lifeguards, the pool area was brilliant, yet again, very clean. A massive variety of pools and slides. Even though it was exceptionally busy, it never felt too overcrowded by the pools. The wave pool was great, it had a gradual incline walk into the pool as it increased in depth, great place to chill or play until the hour mark when the waves start for 10 mins, my kids loved it. The Olympic sized pool was good if you wanted to do some lane swimming, and the aqua aerobics and aqua spin bikes were a great touch, too. The splash pool kept my children occupied for hours.
The beach was by far and away the best highlight for me. So this is where the Eurocamp accommodations come good. They are situated by gate 7, which is the quietest part of the beach. Gorgeous sand, loads of space, beautiful tepid sea, and really reasonably priced water activities. We hired a pedalo for 1 hour for 14 euros, which I thought was a bargain. The inflatable assault course was 10 euros for 1 hour.
The beach party with radio WOW we particularly enjoyed, the stage and set up was very impressive and it was a great mix of 90’s and noughties pop and dance.
The Gelato ice cream which can be found in most bars/restaurants for around 2 euros per cone/pot, and it is gorgeous. Forget the Mister Whippy nonsense you get over here. This stuff is divine, and it comes in a wide variety of flavours, all of which are spot on and taste amazing.
All said we had a great week here.
If I could offer any tip for people travelling by plane, with Eurocamp, you can not check in until 4 pm, and they are very stoic on that. So try to arrange your flight so that it coincides as close as possible with arriving to the site for around the 4pm mark. Unlike us, who got there around 10 am and had to occupy the next 6 hours, whilst very tried, in what was to be 39 degree heat that day.
Also, a massive thanks to the Irish family who donated their beach umbrellas, chairs, inflatables, and football on the day we first arrived.
